A Gasparillo man has appeared before a Master of the High Court charged with a 2022 double murder.
Labourer Rhanasa Samaroo, 27, also faces charges of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition. He appeared before Master Delicia Bethelmy in the High Court on Monday.
The court set a sufficiency hearing for October 15.
The charges relate to the deaths of Joshua Williams, 36, and Anand Mahabir, 39. Their bodies were found in Harmony Hall on July 11, 2022.
Police said one suspect was held following investigations by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three. The investigation was supervised by Supt Persad and Insp Teeluck.
PC Shawn Lall of Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three laid the charges on March 14, 2026. Police said the charges followed advice from Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions on the same date.
Samaroo appeared in court and was informed of the charges. The matter was adjourned to the date set for the sufficiency hearing.
Police said the investigation into the incident began after the discovery of the bodies in Harmony Hall. Officers continued enquiries which led to the arrest of the accused.
The case will continue before the High Court.
