Elmie Lee has been elected president of the Filipino Community Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FCATT) for the 2026 to 2028 term.
The Port of Spain businesswoman won the post unopposed during recent elections held at Mandela Park, where hundreds attended.
Two teams contested the election, MAKABAYAN led by former FCATT president Dr Roxanne Tantoco and Filipino Explorer United led by Dr Julie Danlag.
Other officers elected were Jane Sales, vice president, Maria Saguing, secretary, Gemma Gonzales, treasurer, and Eric Alicda, public relations officer.
In her maiden address, Lee promised transparency and accountability and said she would listen to members. She said her election was an honour and added that members’ continued support would be critical to the association’s success.
“We will continue with our events for obtaining funding which will go towards charity and assisting children who are eligible to continue their education.”
FCATT is a non-governmental organisation that provides medical assistance free of charge to the poor, sick and homeless through churches and other non-governmental agencies.
The association raises funds through concerts, family days, dinners and field trips. Lee said FCATT would continue its work and that with her executive she could guarantee the organisation’s success.
