EBC completes recounts; confirms TPP 15-0 sweep

The Elec­tions and Bound­aries Com­mis­sion has com­plet­ed the of­fi­cial re­counts for the Dar­rel Spring Whim and Scar­bor­ough Mt Grace elec­toral dis­tricts in the 2026 To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly elec­tions.

The Com­mis­sion ad­vised that the re­counts were con­duct­ed fol­low­ing re­quests sub­mit­ted by Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment. The Com­mis­sion said the over­all re­sults for both dis­tricts re­main un­changed af­ter the process.

In the Dar­rel Spring Whim dis­trict, To­ba­go Peo­ple’s Par­ty record­ed 838 votes. Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment re­ceived 826 votes. In­no­v­a­tive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Al­liance polled 14 votes. Three bal­lots were re­ject­ed.

For the Scar­bor­ough Mt Grace dis­trict, To­ba­go Peo­ple’s Par­ty se­cured 854 votes. Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment record­ed 702 votes. In­no­v­a­tive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Al­liance re­ceived 14 votes. Six bal­lots were re­ject­ed.

The Com­mis­sion stat­ed that these fig­ures rep­re­sent the fi­nal of­fi­cial vote counts for the two dis­tricts. It added that the re­count process has now con­clud­ed for all dis­tricts where ap­pli­ca­tions were made fol­low­ing the de­c­la­ra­tion of pre­lim­i­nary re­sults.

Ac­cord­ing to the Com­mis­sion, the re­counts were car­ried out in ac­cor­dance with the Rep­re­sen­ta­tion of the Peo­ple Act and re­lat­ed reg­u­la­tions gov­ern­ing To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly elec­tions. Elec­tion of­fi­cials over­saw the ver­i­fi­ca­tion of bal­lots and tal­lies in the pres­ence of par­ty rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

The Elec­tions and Bound­aries Com­mis­sion not­ed that the com­ple­tion of the re­counts brings clo­sure to the mat­ters raised by Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment in re­la­tion to the two dis­tricts. No changes were record­ed to the al­lo­ca­tion of seats as pre­vi­ous­ly an­nounced.

The Com­mis­sion said it will pro­ceed with its re­main­ing post-elec­tion du­ties, in­clud­ing the prepa­ra­tion of fi­nal re­ports re­lat­ed to the con­duct of the 2026 To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly elec­tions.
