An early-morning argument at a San Fernando bar yesterday escalated into violence, leaving a 19-year-old Venezuelan national dead.

The victim has been identified as Jesus Carlos Sivedre of Harmony Hall, Gasparillo.

Police reported that around 4 am, Sivedre was socializing with his brother at a bar along Leotaud Street, off Cipero Street, when they became involved in a dispute with three Trinidadian men over Venezuelan women present at the establishment.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical fight, prompting the brothers to flee. The chase continued to the corner of Imrie and Rigsby Streets, where the altercation persisted and beer bottles were reportedly thrown.

Investigators said Sivedre’s brother managed to scale the wall of a nearby residential property to escape, but Sivedre was caught and attacked with multiple cutlass strikes. Blood was reported on the ground, the wall of a house, a gate, and a nearby vehicle.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3 are continuing inquiries into the incident.
