Police are investigating the murder 28-year-old man who was gunned down in a car in Santa Cruz on Wednesday night.
Police said officers of the North Eastern Division received a report of gunfire on Sun Valley Extension, La Canoa Road, just before 9 pm and went to the scene.
On arrival, they found the body of Hakeem Baker in the front passenger seat of a silver Nissan B14, which was partly in a drain at the side of the road.
A district medical officer was called in, who declared Baker dead at the scene.
Investigators speculate that Baker crashed the car when he came under fire and tried to escape from the gunmen by climbing into the passenger side seat where he eventually died.
Officers of the Region II Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
