CWU, Hilton Trinidad agree to 11 per cent wage increase

The Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Work­ers’ Union (CWU) and Hilton Trinidad and Con­fer­ence Cen­tre have fi­nalised an 11 per cent wage in­crease for work­ers cov­er­ing two pe­ri­ods: June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2022, and June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2025.

Ac­cord­ing to the union, the com­pa­ny and the CWU reached the set­tle­ment bi­lat­er­al­ly, with the union main­tain­ing its po­si­tion on the val­ue of its mem­bers while al­so con­sid­er­ing the fi­nan­cial im­pli­ca­tions on the ho­tel’s vi­a­bil­i­ty.

The union said its mem­bers sig­nalled strong sup­port through­out the process.

Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al Joanne Ogeer has con­clud­ed her sec­ond suc­cess­ful ne­go­ti­a­tion and thanked the com­pa­ny for what she de­scribed as mean­ing­ful stake­hold­er en­gage­ment. She said she con­tin­ues to be strength­ened by her ex­ec­u­tive, mem­bers and branch rep­re­sen­ta­tives who showed sol­i­dar­i­ty dur­ing talks.
