Cricket fans attending this year's Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be able to access free health screenings at all eight tournament venues as organisers expand the league's community outreach beyond the boundary.

The initiative, described as the largest Caribbean health testing programme of its kind, will be rolled out in partnership with regional health authorities and non-governmental organisations throughout the tournament. Organisers say they intend to make the programme a permanent feature of the CPL calendar.

Health professionals will be stationed at venues in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, offering supporters an opportunity to undergo basic health checks while attending matches.

The free screenings will include blood pressure and blood glucose testing, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, urinalysis and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing, helping fans monitor key indicators linked to chronic illnesses.

The programme is aimed at addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the Caribbean, where conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and certain cancers remain among the leading public health challenges. By bringing health services directly into stadiums, organisers hope to reach people who may not otherwise seek routine medical screening, while encouraging early detection and greater awareness.

Republic Bank CPL Chief Executive Officer Pete Russell said the initiative reflects the league's responsibility to give back to the communities that support it.

"Non-communicable diseases have touched almost every one of us in some way, whether as patients ourselves or through a loved one," Russell said.

"Being a good corporate citizen means using the platform we've built for something bigger than the game itself. Early detection is key to combating non-communicable diseases. This programme puts that principle into practice."

Russell added that the tournament's reach across eight Caribbean territories provides an opportunity to promote healthier communities.

As the Republic Bank CPL continues to expand across the region, organisers say they remain committed to using the tournament's popularity to support health and wellness initiatives that provide lasting benefits for fans and host countries.
