Multiple firearms, ammunition, and police issued equipment—including bulletproof vests—were recovered during several anti-crime operations carried out on Tuesday 16 December 2025, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has confirmed.
And in an official statement on the matter, the Police Service is urging members of the public to continue partnering with law enforcement by providing information that can assist in the fight against crime.
According to the TTPS release, police officers attached to the Cumuto Police Station and the Northern Division North Task Force received intelligence that led them to an abandoned property along Cumuto Main Road, Cumuto, yesterday. A search of the premises led to the discovery of one pump-action shotgun and two blue bulletproof vests marked “Police”.
And in a separate exercise conducted between 1:30 and 4:30 pm on Tuesday, officers from the San Raphael Police Station carried out a search in a forested area along Arena Road, San Raphael, where they found a homemade 16-gauge shotgun.
Meanwhile, an intelligence-driven operation between 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm within the Chaguanas Policing District, resulted in the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.
The TTPS says officers from the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID), along with members of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Area North, obtained information that led them to Connector Road, Charlieville, where they conducted a thorough search of a densely bushy area. The officers discovered a shotgun along with several shotgun cartridges. The calibre of the ammunition is yet to be determined.
Investigations are ongoing.
