Beetham man shot after argument

A 51-year-old Beetham man is be­ing treat­ed for a gun­shot wound he sus­tained af­ter an ar­gu­ment with an­oth­er man in his neigh­bour­hood on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said the man was out­side his home on 22nd Street at 8 pm when he got in­to an ar­gu­ment with an­oth­er man from the neigh­bour­hood.

Af­ter the ar­gu­ment, he re­turned home, but the sus­pect fol­lowed him in­side and the two be­gan fight­ing.

The man ran out of the house to­wards the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route. He said he then heard a gun­shot and felt a sting­ing sen­sa­tion on the right side of his neck be­fore col­laps­ing on Main Street, Beetham.

An am­bu­lance was called and took him to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Area East CID and the In­ter-Agency Task Force Dun­can Street Post vis­it­ed the scene and are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
