Arouca man killed in Eastern Main Road crash

A 51-year-old Arou­ca man was killed on Wednes­day morn­ing af­ter a truck lost con­trol and slammed in­to a ve­hi­cle he was dri­ving.

Po­lice re­port­ed that Nigel Cain of Bon Air West was in a Mit­subishi Sportero along the East­ern Main Road around 10 am when a 10-wheel­er truck slammed in­to him.

Po­lice said the dri­ver of the 50-year-old San­gre Grande truck dri­ver, re­port­ed that while head­ing east along the main road, his brak­ing sys­tem “locked” and he lost con­trol of the truck and crashed in­to the Sportero.

Cain was de­clared dead at the scene while the truck dri­ver and a pas­sen­ger in Cain’s van were tak­en to the San­gre Grander and Ari­ma Hos­pi­tals re­spec­tive­ly and re­mained ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.
