Angostura has released a limited-edition artistic packaging for its premium rum, Angostura Founders Reserve 1824.

Angostura Founders Reserve 1824 is named after the year Angostura aromatic bitters were invented by Dr Johann G.B. Siegert.

The packaging features four designs created by Trinidad and Tobago artists Sarah Knights, Nicholas Huggins, Shawn Chong-Ashing and Bianca Peake.

Acting chief executive officer, Ian Forbes, said the limited-edition packaging combines the brand’s heritage with contemporary artistic expression, adding that each design is intended to appeal to rum drinkers and art collectors.

Each artist contributed a distinct theme. Knights focused on feminine identity and local fashion culture. Huggins drew on national motifs and colour to reflect Trinidad and Tobago’s culture. Chong-Ashing’s design references dance through the ages, featuring a belé dancer and a masquerader. Peake’s watercolour artwork explores national identity through a visual interpretation of Trinbagonian life.
