Tobago’s murder toll has climbed to eight for the year after a 44-year-old American builder was found dead in Castara late Wednesday night.

Police say the body of Christopher Brown, a United States citizen who lived at County Road, Silver Thorne, was discovered around 10.35 pm along Depot Road.

Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man and found Brown lying near a flight of steps with visible injuries. District Medical Officer Dr Baksh later viewed the body and officially pronounced him dead at 3.07 am on Thursday.

Crime Scene investigators processed the location overnight before the body was removed to the Scarborough General Hospital mortuary pending a forensic post-mortem.

Police have not yet released further details on a possible motive, whether Brown lived on the island or was here temporarily, or if anyone was seen in the area around the time of the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
