Spa owner and customer shot dead in Couva

The own­er of a spa in Cou­va and a cus­tomer were fa­tal­ly shot a short while ago.

They have been iden­ti­fied as spa own­er Kavi­ta De­osarine, 55, of Mid­way Park, Freeport, and cus­tomer Cheryl Dick­son, 64, of La Croix Street, Cou­va.

Ini­tial in­for­ma­tion in­di­cates that around 9.20 am, a cus­tomer was at SO­HO Beau­ty Heav­en when a sus­pect, clad in a blue cov­er­all, en­tered the premis­es with a firearm.

The sus­pect ap­proached Dick­son and asked her about the ve­hi­cle she was dri­ving be­fore shoot­ing her twice.

He then went in­to a room, where he con­front­ed De­osarine. Sec­onds lat­er, two gun­shots were heard.

The sus­pect then fled the scene.

Sev­er­al oth­er busi­ness­es op­er­ate in the plaza, in­clud­ing a spe­cial school for chil­dren. No one else was re­port­ed in­jured.

As of noon, the bod­ies re­mained at the scene, along with po­lice of­fi­cers who were con­tin­u­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
