Nine people, including a police officer and a fire officer, were arrested for driving under the influence during a police exercise in Port of Spain early Saturday morning.
The arrests were made between midnight and 4 a.m. during a DUI operation on Park Street.
The people arrested range in age from 19 to 69. Their occupations include a police officer, fire officer, WASA technical officer, engineer, bank employee, vendor, sales agent, custodial worker and pensioner.
Police said all nine were arrested for having breath alcohol levels exceeding the prescribed limit.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts to target impaired driving in the Port of Spain Division.
