Hadeed in emotional return to Blue Waters business

Blue Wa­ters Prod­ucts Ltd ex­ec­u­tive chair­man Do­minic Hadeed re­turned to the com­pa­ny’s Or­ange Grove, Trinci­ty head­quar­ters yes­ter­day for the first time since his re­lease from pre­ven­tive de­ten­tion, re­ceiv­ing an emo­tion­al re­cep­tion from em­ploy­ees who ap­plaud­ed, em­braced him and wel­comed him back to work.

Hadeed ar­rived at the com­pa­ny’s head­quar­ters at about 10.30 am and re­mained on the com­pound un­til around 2 pm, meet­ing with em­ploy­ees from every de­part­ment, as well as the com­pa­ny’s ex­ec­u­tive team.

A video cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia cap­tured the mo­ment Hadeed en­tered the build­ing, with staff break­ing in­to ap­plause be­fore lin­ing up to hug him. Many em­ploy­ees ap­peared vis­i­bly emo­tion­al as they greet­ed their long­time ex­ec­u­tive chair­man.

“I missed you all,” Hadeed told em­ploy­ees be­fore mov­ing through the fa­cil­i­ty, stop­ping to shake hands and em­brace work­ers.
He al­so ex­pressed grat­i­tude to staff for their un­wa­ver­ing sup­port through­out his de­ten­tion.
Ad­dress­ing em­ploy­ees, Hadeed re­it­er­at­ed his in­no­cence, telling them, “I’ve nev­er even hit an­oth­er per­son, much less to con­sid­er any con­spir­a­cy.”

In one mo­ment cap­tured on the video, an em­ploy­ee could be heard re­mark­ing that Hadeed had “got small,” an ap­par­ent ref­er­ence to the no­tice­able weight he ap­peared to have lost dur­ing his de­ten­tion at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison in Arou­ca.

Two em­ploy­ees and a su­per­vi­sor, who asked not to be iden­ti­fied be­cause they were not au­tho­rised to speak pub­licly, yes­ter­day told the Guardian Me­dia there was a buzz across the com­pound af­ter man­age­ment in­formed staff ear­li­er in the morn­ing that Hadeed would be re­turn­ing to work.
One em­ploy­ee said there were tears of joy as he walked through the doors.

“We’re just hap­py to have him back. The court mat­ter is still be­fore the courts, but we’re re­lieved he has been re­leased and is back do­ing what he loves, help­ing to build Blue Wa­ters,” the em­ploy­ee said.
An­oth­er em­ploy­ee said it was en­cour­ag­ing to see Hadeed smil­ing and tak­ing the time to meet with work­ers across the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

The work­er said Hadeed ap­peared thin­ner than be­fore but re­mained up­beat through­out the vis­it, spend­ing sev­er­al hours thank­ing staff and speak­ing with em­ploy­ees from dif­fer­ent sec­tions of the busi­ness.

Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve, were ar­rest­ed by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice on June 24 as part of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to an al­leged plot to as­sas­si­nate Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar and se­nior mem­bers of her Gov­ern­ment.

Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­ders (PDOs) were is­sued against the cou­ple on June 27 un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, 2026, aris­ing from the on­go­ing State of Emer­gency.

Last week, how­ev­er, Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Roger Alexan­der re­voked the PDO, say­ing the cou­ple’s con­tin­ued de­ten­tion was no longer pro­por­tion­ate while the crim­i­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tion con­tin­ues.

The Hadeeds, who have not been charged, have de­nied any wrong­do­ing, and le­gal pro­ceed­ings in the mat­ter are con­tin­u­ing.
