A 29-year-old Princes Town man narrowly escaped an attempt on his life on Tuesday night.

Police said that around 7.30pm, the victim was standing on the road in front of his home along Naparima Mayaro Road in Iere Village when a black car stopped nearby.

A gunman got out of the vehicle and opened fire. The victim ran to the back of his home and was not injured.

The assailant then got back into the car, which sped away from the scene.

Officers of the Princes Town CID and the Southern Division Area East Task Force visited the scene and recovered 18 spent 9mm shells, two live rounds of ammunition, a projectile and a metal fragment.

Investigations are continuing.
