Four people were arrested and ammunition, a pistol magazine and quantities of cannabis seized during anti-crime exercises conducted in Central and Southern Division districts over the weekend.
According to a Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) media release, officers of the Central Division Task Force carried out an operation between 4.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Saturday in the Couva district.
During the exercise, officers searched an area near a mango tree off Greig Street, where they found a black plastic bag containing a pistol magazine loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
In a separate exercise, officers attached to the Longdenville Police Post, assisted by the Central Division Gang Unit, conducted operations between 4 pm and 7 pm on Friday.
Police said the exercise resulted in the discovery of 50 rounds of 7.62 ammunition and 43 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
ACP Remy, Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, Superintendent Frank and Inspector Rampersad coordinated the Central Division operations.
Meanwhile, officers of the Southern Division Task Force, assisted by the Canine Branch, conducted an exercise between 1.30 pm and 8 pm on Saturday.
The operation led to the arrest of four suspects for offences including possession of cannabis, possession of apparatus and possession of camouflage clothing.
Senior Superintendent Simon, Superintendent Bertie, W/Superintendent Bridglal and ASPs Pacheco, Ramsaran, Chulhan and Ragbir coordinated the Southern Division exercise.
Police said investigations into the matters are ongoing.
