Heritage Petroleum Company Limited says it has removed all contaminated soil linked to reports of the scent and sightings of oil in the vicinity of Rangie Nanan Drive, Tarouba.
In a media release, the company said it continued investigations and monitoring after the incident was first reported.
Heritage said the removal of the contaminated soil was completed as a matter of urgency and that air quality testing continues to be carried out by the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute as a precautionary measure to ensure safe levels are maintained.
The company said its personnel remain accessible to nearby residents to provide updates and address concerns. It added that access to medical services has also been made available to residents who may require support.
According to the release, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, the Environmental Management Authority and other relevant agencies have been notified and remain involved in the ongoing response efforts.
Heritage said it remains committed to ensuring all appropriate response, monitoring and remediation measures are implemented and that updates will continue to be provided as required.
