Heritage continues air monitoring after Tarouba oil cleanup

Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed says it has re­moved all con­t­a­m­i­nat­ed soil linked to re­ports of the scent and sight­ings of oil in the vicin­i­ty of Rang­ie Nanan Dri­ve, Tarou­ba.

In a me­dia re­lease, the com­pa­ny said it con­tin­ued in­ves­ti­ga­tions and mon­i­tor­ing af­ter the in­ci­dent was first re­port­ed.

Her­itage said the re­moval of the con­t­a­m­i­nat­ed soil was com­plet­ed as a mat­ter of ur­gency and that air qual­i­ty test­ing con­tin­ues to be car­ried out by the Caribbean In­dus­tri­al Re­search In­sti­tute as a pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sure to en­sure safe lev­els are main­tained.

The com­pa­ny said its per­son­nel re­main ac­ces­si­ble to near­by res­i­dents to pro­vide up­dates and ad­dress con­cerns. It added that ac­cess to med­ical ser­vices has al­so been made avail­able to res­i­dents who may re­quire sup­port.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries, the En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Au­thor­i­ty and oth­er rel­e­vant agen­cies have been no­ti­fied and re­main in­volved in the on­go­ing re­sponse ef­forts.

Her­itage said it re­mains com­mit­ted to en­sur­ing all ap­pro­pri­ate re­sponse, mon­i­tor­ing and re­me­di­a­tion mea­sures are im­ple­ment­ed and that up­dates will con­tin­ue to be pro­vid­ed as re­quired.
