Energy Ministry meets Chevron on investment opportunities

Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries Dr Roodal Mooni­lal met with ex­ec­u­tives of state en­er­gy com­pa­nies and Chevron Cor­po­ra­tion on Mon­day, to dis­cuss in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed, Paria Fu­el Trad­ing Lim­it­ed and Guaracara Re­fin­ing Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed al­so at­tend­ed the meet­ing.

Those present in­clud­ed Her­itage chair­man Kurt Ram­lal and act­ing chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Ker­ry Ram­per­sad, Paria chair­man Nyree Al­fon­so and act­ing gen­er­al man­ag­er Nazeem Mo­hammed, and Guaracara chair­man Gow­tam Ma­haraj.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­istry, the meet­ing con­tin­ued dis­cus­sions pre­vi­ous­ly held on in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties in the coun­try’s en­er­gy sec­tor.

The dis­cus­sions fo­cused on in­fra­struc­ture re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion, sup­ply and trad­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

Chevron rep­re­sen­ta­tives re­ferred to ex­ist­ing com­mer­cial part­ner­ships with Her­itage and Paria and said the com­pa­ny was open to fur­ther col­lab­o­ra­tion with Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Dr Mooni­lal said the Gov­ern­ment re­mained com­mit­ted to sup­port­ing de­vel­op­ment in the en­er­gy sec­tor and en­cour­ag­ing co­or­di­na­tion be­tween state com­pa­nies and the pri­vate sec­tor.

The min­istry said the dis­cus­sions formed part of ef­forts to ad­vance projects and part­ner­ships in­volv­ing the en­er­gy in­dus­try.

Chevron ex­ec­u­tives An­drew Stead, di­rec­tor of down­stream, mid­stream and chem­i­cals busi­ness de­vel­op­ment, and Nicole Oakes of the com­pa­ny’s sup­ply, trad­ing orig­i­na­tion and com­mer­cial team at­tend­ed vir­tu­al­ly.

Of­fi­cials from the min­istry in­clud­ed di­rec­tor of the Down­stream Pe­tro­le­um Man­age­ment Di­vi­sion Ayasha Nick­ie, chem­i­cal en­gi­neer Anush­ka Ben­ny and act­ing se­nior chem­i­cal en­gi­neer Ger­ri Cum­ber­batch.
