Nurses signal second wave of action

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Na­tion­al Nurs­ing As­so­ci­a­tion has in­di­cat­ed plans to es­ca­late its push for salary in­creas­es for nurs­es with­in the Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ties.

In a post shared to­day, the as­so­ci­a­tion con­grat­u­lat­ed pub­lic ser­vants on their re­cent salary ad­just­ments but point­ed to the con­tin­ued de­lay af­fect­ing nurs­es, who it said re­main on 2013 in­come lev­els.

“Con­grats to all pub­lic ser­vants on your salary in­creas­es. We in the RHAs (who re­main on 2013 in­come) are in­deed elat­ed and en­vi­ous of your good for­tune to now be work­ing on your 2019 salaries,” the as­so­ci­a­tion wrote.

The TTNNA said it is prepar­ing for a spe­cial gen­er­al meet­ing sched­uled for Sat­ur­day, April 18, 2026, at its head of­fice, where mem­bers will present and vote on a sec­ond wave of ac­tions aimed at se­cur­ing salary in­creas­es.

It added that mem­bers have sup­port­ed all mea­sures tak­en so far.

“As TTNNA pre­pares for our spe­cial gen­er­al meet­ing card­ed for this Sat­ur­day 18th April 2026 at our head­of­fice, as we present and vote on our 2nd wave of ac­tions to press home our right for salary in­creas­es, we are eter­nal­ly grate­ful that our mem­bers have ful­ly sup­port­ed all our ac­tions thus far,” the post said.

The as­so­ci­a­tion sig­nalled con­tin­ued mo­bil­i­sa­tion as it moves in­to the next phase of its cam­paign.

“Stay tuned. Blue Army, round two load­ing. We will nev­er sur­ren­der.”

Hun­dreds of nurs­es in Trinidad and To­ba­go marched in Port of Spain on April 10, 2026, protest­ing for high­er wages, bet­ter work­ing con­di­tions and im­proved over­time rates. The TTNNA led that demon­stra­tion as part of its on­go­ing cam­paign for im­proved com­pen­sa­tion and con­di­tions.
