Accident survivor Yousuf Hosein is once again making an appeal to the government to install protective barriers after another cross-median fatal crash.
Hosein, who survived a similar accident in 2012, is calling on Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John and Minister of Transport Eli Zakour to continue the installation of guard rails on highways to prevent the loss of lives and limbs on the nation’s highways.
His appeal comes after Laventille resident Mishael Michael King died on Sunday afternoon when a pick-up slammed into him while he was driving along the Uriah Butler Highway.
Police said King, of Furness Whitty Private Road, Success Village, Laventille, was heading north along the highway around 5:30 pm when a black Mitsubishi Sportero, which was heading south, crossed the median and slammed into the Kia Cerato he was driving.
Front-seat passenger Severina Francois was taken to the Mt Hope Hospital, where doctors treated her for brain injuries.
The driver of the Sportero and his passenger were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where doctors treated them and later discharged them.
