A chilling WhatsApp voice message a 32-year-old Point Fortin man sent to his girlfriend, shortly after he was stabbed, is now a key part of a police investigation into his murder.
Stefan Leith died on Thursday after he was stabbed in the chest along Waterlane Street, Princes Town.
According to a police report, around 4.47 pm, he was walking along the road when a man he knew stabbed him.
The victim ran a short distance before getting into a car and was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment.
His girlfriend was at work when she received a voice note from Leith about a minute later.
He told her he was going to the hospital because he had been stabbed by a man who was also known to her.
Leith told her he was having difficulty breathing. Before succumbing to his injury at the hospital, he also told the police who attacked him.
Police confirmed that Leith’s girlfriend had ended her relationship with the suspect two years ago and she had taken out a protection order against him.
Homicide Bureau Region 3 officers are investigating.
