Two suspects are in police custody following a robbery at a supermarket in the Fyzabad district on Tuesday.
Police said around 5:00 p.m., officers attached to the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department received a report of a robbery at the Two in One Supermarket while on mobile patrol. Officers proceeded to the Palmiste area based on the report and observed two individuals matching descriptions given.
The suspects were intercepted along Flamingo Crescent by officers, including members of the Southern Division Emergency Response Patrol and the Southern Division Task Force.
Police conducted a search and found one suspect with cash, cellular phones, watches and a magazine with ten rounds of .40 calibre ammunition. The second suspect was also found with cash.
Officers later carried out enquiries which led them to a location along Pelican Drive, Palmiste, where a .40 calibre pistol was recovered.
Both suspects were arrested in connection with the offences.
Police also recovered TT$4,314 and US$100, along with cellular phones and watches believed to have been taken during the robbery.
A vehicle believed to have been used in the incident was later found abandoned in the Palmiste Park area. The vehicle was seized by police.
