Man jailed for warehouse breaking and larceny

A 29-year-old Princes Town man has been sen­tenced to 16 months’ im­pris­on­ment with hard labour af­ter plead­ing guilty to ware­house break­ing and lar­ce­ny.

The ac­cused ap­peared be­fore the Mas­ter of the South Court C on March 23, where he en­tered a guilty plea and was sen­tenced. Po­lice said the mat­ter was in­ves­ti­gat­ed by of­fi­cers of the Table­land Po­lice Sta­tion.

The charge re­lates to an in­ci­dent be­tween 5 pm on Jan­u­ary 14 at 12:45 am and Jan­u­ary 15 at a ware­house at North Trace, New Grant. Po­lice said the build­ing was bro­ken in­to and items were tak­en.

The own­er se­cured the premis­es ear­li­er that evening and lat­er re­ceived a re­port of ac­tiv­i­ty. Of­fi­cers re­spond­ed and found a door on the east­ern side of the build­ing forced open.

Po­lice said cash and small pow­er tools val­ued at $29,430 were stolen. No per­mis­sion was giv­en for the re­moval of the items.

PC Sookraj led en­quiries which re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of two men on Jan­u­ary 16, 2026. The men, aged 34 and 35, were charged and ap­peared be­fore the Mas­ter of the South Court C on Jan­u­ary 21, 2026. They plead­ed not guilty and were grant­ed bail of $65,000 with sure­ty. The mat­ter was trans­ferred to the Princes Town 1st Mag­is­trates’ Court and is set for Sep­tem­ber 22, 2026.

Fur­ther en­quiries led to the ar­rest of the 29-year-old on March 19, 2026. Snr Supt Si­mon, Supt Bridge­lal, ASP Chul­han, In­sp Nand­lal and Sgt Dhunkarie su­per­vised the ex­er­cise.
