Three murders in 24 hours in PoS/Laventille

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion and the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions were kept busy late in­to Sun­day night as they in­ves­ti­gat­ed three sep­a­rate mur­ders, hours apart in Port of Spain and Laven­tille.

In the most re­cent in­ci­dent, po­lice said 35-year-old Prince Moses walked out­side his Pic­ton Road, Laven­tille, home around 9:40 pm to smoke.

A rel­a­tive who was in­side re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots short­ly af­ter and on check­ing saw Moses bleed­ing on the ground.

Po­lice were called in and took Moses to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was de­clared dead at 10:05 pm.

A quan­ti­ty of spent 9-mil­lime­tre shells were found at the scene.

Hours ear­li­er at around 6:10 pm, po­lice on pa­trol were dis­patched to Joe Sam Hill, Laven­tille, where gun­shots were re­port­ed be­ing heard.

On ar­rival, po­lice found the body of 29-year-old Shaquille Woods.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer was called in who de­clared Woods dead at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found a sin­gle spent shell of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion at the scene.

Two hours ear­li­er at about 4:30 pm, Romel­lo Ed­in­bor­ough, 29, was pulled from a house on Mc­Shine Lands, where he was con­duct­ing ren­o­va­tions, when he was ap­proached by six men in dark coloured cloth­ing.

Two of the at­tack­ers had guns and pulled him to the front of the house be­fore shoot­ing him sev­er­al times.

Po­lice said the sus­pects were seen run­ning to­wards Des­per­lie Cres­cent.

Passers-by took Ed­in­bor­ough to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was de­clared dead at 4:39 pm.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to all these mat­ters.
