Ammunition and cannabis seized in Port of Spain

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion seized am­mu­ni­tion and cannabis dur­ing Op­er­a­tion Stead­fast con­duct­ed be­tween March 14 and March 15.

Po­lice said the ex­er­cise tar­get­ed ar­eas in­clud­ing St. Barbs, Ro­get Place, St. Ann’s, Hut­ton Street, Aripi­ta Road and Rock City in Port of Spain.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed search­es at five hous­es.

Po­lice re­port­ed that five rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion and 210 grammes of cannabis were found and seized dur­ing the search­es.

No ar­rests were re­port­ed in con­nec­tion with the seizures up to the time of the re­lease.

The ex­er­cise was car­ried out by of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion as part of on­go­ing op­er­a­tions across dis­tricts with­in the di­vi­sion.

Po­lice stat­ed that op­er­a­tions such as Op­er­a­tion Stead­fast form part of on­go­ing ef­forts by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice to tar­get crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty.

The ser­vice said it will con­tin­ue in­tel­li­gence-based op­er­a­tions across com­mu­ni­ties in an ef­fort to lo­cate il­le­gal items and ad­dress of­fences.
