West Indies players back home after delay caused by war

Crick­et West In­dies says all play­ers and mem­bers of the Team Man­age­ment Unit who were part of the West In­dies Men’s squad at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in In­dia have re­turned home.

In a state­ment is­sued Sat­ur­day, Crick­et West In­dies said the fi­nal group of play­ers and sup­port staff com­plet­ed their jour­neys over the past sev­er­al days and ar­rived at their re­spec­tive des­ti­na­tions.

The re­gion­al crick­et body said the trav­el fol­lowed chal­lenges in­volv­ing can­cel­la­tions of char­tered flights arranged by the In­ter­na­tion­al Crick­et Coun­cil.

Crick­et West In­dies said com­mer­cial trav­el was se­cured for mem­bers of the squad ear­li­er this week af­ter the can­cel­la­tions.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion thanked the In­ter­na­tion­al Crick­et Coun­cil, re­gion­al crick­et boards and oth­er stake­hold­ers for as­sist­ing in fa­cil­i­tat­ing the re­turn of the team.

Crick­et West In­dies al­so ac­knowl­edged West In­dies sup­port­ers and mem­bers of the crick­et com­mu­ni­ty who ex­pressed con­cern and sent well-wish­es.

The board said the well-be­ing and safe­ty of play­ers and staff re­main a pri­or­i­ty and not­ed that the mat­ter has been brought to a con­clu­sion.
