Homeland security ministry, TATT sign cyber security agreement

The Min­istry of Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty and the Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Au­thor­i­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go (TATT) have signed a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing to strength­en co­op­er­a­tion on cy­ber se­cu­ri­ty.

The agree­ment was signed to­day at the min­istry’s of­fice at the In­ter­na­tion­al Wa­ter­front Com­plex in Port of Spain by Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary Wil­son Hen­der­son Jr. and TATT chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Kurleigh Prescod.

It es­tab­lish­es a frame­work for col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween the min­istry, through the Trinidad and To­ba­go Cy­ber Se­cu­ri­ty In­ci­dent Re­sponse Team (TT-CSIRT), and TATT to im­prove cy­ber threat in­for­ma­tion shar­ing, tech­ni­cal co­op­er­a­tion and cy­ber in­ci­dent re­sponse.

The sign­ing was wit­nessed by Min­is­ter of Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Roger Alexan­der and Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion and Ar­ti­fi­cial In­tel­li­gence Do­minic Alexan­der Smith.

Un­der the agree­ment, the two bod­ies will share in­for­ma­tion on cy­ber threats, ex­change tech­ni­cal re­search and col­lab­o­rate on strength­en­ing na­tion­al cy­ber in­ci­dent re­sponse ca­pa­bil­i­ties.

TT-CSIRT is re­spon­si­ble for na­tion­al cy­ber se­cu­ri­ty sit­u­a­tion­al aware­ness and in­ci­dent re­sponse, while TATT reg­u­lates the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions sec­tor.
