Five kilogrammes of cannabis seized in Felicity

Five kilo­grammes of cannabis were seized dur­ing a State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tion con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Thurs­day.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers con­duct­ed the ex­er­cise be­tween 9 am and 2 pm on March 12.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers went to the Fe­lic­i­ty dis­trict where they searched a bushy area with as­sis­tance from the Ca­nine Unit.

Po­lice said the search led to the dis­cov­ery of ten pack­ages con­tain­ing a to­tal of five kilo­grammes of cannabis.

No ar­rests were re­port­ed in con­nec­tion with the seizure.

The op­er­a­tion formed part of on­go­ing State of Emer­gency ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers across di­vi­sions.

Po­lice said the ex­er­cise was sanc­tioned by DCP Suzette Mar­tin and di­rect­ed by ACP Hazel.

Se­nior of­fi­cers in­volved in the op­er­a­tion in­clud­ed Snr Supt Ram­nar­ine, Supt Ram­sook and ASP Singh.

Per­son­nel from the Na­tion­al Op­er­a­tions Task Force al­so took part in the ex­er­cise.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers searched the area as part of op­er­a­tions con­duct­ed un­der the State of Emer­gency.

The seized cannabis was tak­en in­to po­lice cus­tody.
