The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited has signed a new Gas Sales Contract with Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited to continue supplying natural gas to the company’s ammonia plant.

In a statement, NGC said the agreement followed negotiations between the two companies and will allow PLNL to maintain operations at its Point Lisas facility.

PLNL produces anhydrous ammonia for export to international markets. NGC said the continued gas supply will allow the company to meet its contractual obligations to customers while contributing to national revenue through its operations.

Acting NGC president Edmund Subryan said the agreement resulted from negotiations between the commercial and legal teams of both companies.

He said, “…balancing the needs of various stakeholders requires meaningful dialogue, cooperation, and a shared focus on long-term national interests.”

NGC chairman Gerald I. Ramdeen said the company remains mindful of its role in supplying natural gas to downstream industries and managing the country’s gas resources.

“The execution of the GSC is a solid indicator of the resilience and permanency of the local petrochemical sector,” Ramdeen said.
