West Indies Women name squad for T20 series vs Australia

Crick­et West In­dies (CWI) has an­nounced the West In­dies Women’s squad for the T20 In­ter­na­tion­al se­ries against Aus­tralia women’s na­tion­al crick­et team, sched­uled from March 19–23 at Arnos Vale Crick­et Ground in St. Vin­cent and the Grenadines.

The Ma­roon War­riors will field an un­changed squad. The se­ries forms part of the team’s prepa­ra­tion for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the Unit­ed King­dom lat­er this year. The squad com­bines ex­pe­ri­enced play­ers and young tal­ent.

Cap­tain Hay­ley Matthews led West In­dies to vic­to­ry in the fi­nal ODI against Sri Lan­ka, fol­low­ing a 2–1 se­ries loss at home. Se­nior play­ers Stafanie Tay­lor, De­an­dra Dot­tin, and Matthews bring ex­pe­ri­ence to the squad. Wick­et­keep­er-bat­ter She­maine Camp­belle is ex­pect­ed to earn her 150th T20 In­ter­na­tion­al cap dur­ing the se­ries. Emerg­ing play­ers Eboni Brath­waite and Jahzara Clax­ton are in­clud­ed for their first ma­jor in­ter­na­tion­al ex­po­sure.

Head Coach Shane Deitz said the se­ries of­fers an op­por­tu­ni­ty to as­sess the team’s prepa­ra­tion against the world’s top-ranked side. He not­ed the team last played Aus­tralia in Oc­to­ber 2023 and em­pha­sized the im­por­tance of eval­u­at­ing ar­eas of im­prove­ment be­fore the World Cup.

Fol­low­ing the T20 match­es, the teams will trav­el to Warn­er Park in St. Kitts and Nevis for a three-match ODI se­ries. Fans can at­tend all match­es free of charge or watch via ES­PN’s Dis­ney+ stream­ing ser­vice.
