Burnt body found in Couva agricultural land

While the State of Emer­gency re­mains in ef­fect, po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the dis­cov­ery of a burnt body in Cou­va on Tues­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said a farmer was show­ing an­oth­er per­son and a re­al es­tate agent a plot of agri­cul­tur­al land at Ex­change Es­tate No 1 Con­nec­tor Road, Mc Bean, around 11.20 am when they found the body.

Cou­va po­lice were called and of­fi­cers were led to the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the man had both hands tied be­hind his back.

Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered three spent 9 mm shell cas­ings at the scene.

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion III are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

As of Wednes­day morn­ing, the mur­der toll stood at 67 com­pared with 75 for the same pe­ri­od in 2025.
