Firearm, drugs and ammunition seized during SoE operations

Five sus­pects, in­clud­ing one mi­nor, were ar­rest­ed and a firearm, two mag­a­zines and quan­ti­ties of drugs and am­mu­ni­tion seized dur­ing on­go­ing week­end State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tions in the Cen­tral and North Cen­tral Di­vi­sions.

In the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 7 pm and mid­night on Sat­ur­day 7 March 2026, at a bar in the Ch­agua­nas dis­trict. A search of the premis­es un­cov­ered a Smith and Wes­son pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing four rounds of am­mu­ni­tion, found in the pos­ses­sion of a 44-year-old Ch­agua­nas man, who was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt. Bhag­wan­deen, Supt. Glodon, Supt. Frank, ASP Reyes, ASP Her­nan­dez and ASP Ho­sein, su­per­vised by In­sp. Joseph, and in­clud­ed per­son­nel from the Ch­agua­nas Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, the Home In­va­sion Task Force and the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force.

Mean­while, in the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 1 pm and 4 pm yes­ter­day in the Tu­na­puna dis­trict, search­ing two hous­es. One mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 10 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion was dis­cov­ered, and four male sus­pects, aged 16 to 23, were ar­rest­ed.

The ex­er­cise was ini­ti­at­ed by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran and co­or­di­nat­ed by ASP Bharath, with per­son­nel from the NCD Task Force and Ar­eas West and East.

In the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, per­son­nel of the In­ter-Agency Task Force con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise around 11:30 am yes­ter­day in the Laven­tille dis­trict. As­sist­ed by the Ca­nine Branch, of­fi­cers found 13 pack­ages con­tain­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly sev­en kilo­grammes of cannabis in the Jack­son Hill area.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by ACP Hazel, Snr. Supt. Ram­nar­ine, Supt. Ram­sook and ASP Singh.
