Five suspects, including one minor, were arrested and a firearm, two magazines and quantities of drugs and ammunition seized during ongoing weekend State of Emergency operations in the Central and North Central Divisions.
In the Central Division, officers conducted an exercise between 7 pm and midnight on Saturday 7 March 2026, at a bar in the Chaguanas district. A search of the premises uncovered a Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition, found in the possession of a 44-year-old Chaguanas man, who was arrested in connection with the find.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Bhagwandeen, Supt. Glodon, Supt. Frank, ASP Reyes, ASP Hernandez and ASP Hosein, supervised by Insp. Joseph, and included personnel from the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department, the Home Invasion Task Force and the Central Division Task Force.
Meanwhile, in the North Central Division, officers conducted an exercise between 1 pm and 4 pm yesterday in the Tunapuna district, searching two houses. One magazine containing 10 rounds of 5.56 ammunition was discovered, and four male suspects, aged 16 to 23, were arrested.
The exercise was initiated by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran and coordinated by ASP Bharath, with personnel from the NCD Task Force and Areas West and East.
In the Port of Spain Division, personnel of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise around 11:30 am yesterday in the Laventille district. Assisted by the Canine Branch, officers found 13 packages containing approximately seven kilogrammes of cannabis in the Jackson Hill area.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Hazel, Snr. Supt. Ramnarine, Supt. Ramsook and ASP Singh.
Investigations are ongoing into all the above matters.
