Elmie Lee elected Filipino Community Association president

Elmie Lee has been elect­ed pres­i­dent of the Fil­ipino Com­mu­ni­ty As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go (FCATT) for the 2026 to 2028 term.

The Port of Spain busi­ness­woman won the post un­op­posed dur­ing re­cent elec­tions held at Man­dela Park, where hun­dreds at­tend­ed.

Two teams con­test­ed the elec­tion, MAK­ABAYAN led by for­mer FCATT pres­i­dent Dr Rox­anne Tan­to­co and Fil­ipino Ex­plor­er Unit­ed led by Dr Julie Dan­lag.

Oth­er of­fi­cers elect­ed were Jane Sales, vice pres­i­dent, Maria Sagu­ing, sec­re­tary, Gem­ma Gon­za­les, trea­sur­er, and Er­ic Al­ic­da, pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer.

In her maid­en ad­dress, Lee promised trans­paren­cy and ac­count­abil­i­ty and said she would lis­ten to mem­bers. She said her elec­tion was an ho­n­our and added that mem­bers’ con­tin­ued sup­port would be crit­i­cal to the as­so­ci­a­tion’s suc­cess.

“We will con­tin­ue with our events for ob­tain­ing fund­ing which will go to­wards char­i­ty and as­sist­ing chil­dren who are el­i­gi­ble to con­tin­ue their ed­u­ca­tion.”

FCATT is a non-gov­ern­men­tal or­gan­i­sa­tion that pro­vides med­ical as­sis­tance free of charge to the poor, sick and home­less through church­es and oth­er non-gov­ern­men­tal agen­cies.

The as­so­ci­a­tion rais­es funds through con­certs, fam­i­ly days, din­ners and field trips. Lee said FCATT would con­tin­ue its work and that with her ex­ec­u­tive she could guar­an­tee the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s suc­cess.
