Two firearms, ammunition seized in Central and Tobago

Po­lice seized two firearms and quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing ex­er­cis­es in the Cen­tral and To­ba­go Di­vi­sions with­in the past 72 hours.

Be­tween 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Tues­day 3 March 2026, of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force (Area North), with mem­bers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Reg­i­ment, con­duct­ed an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise. Act­ing on in­tel­li­gence, the team went to a bushy area off Bridal Road, Cunu­pia, and con­duct­ed a search.

Of­fi­cers found a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing a firearm fit­ted with a mag­a­zine loaded with sev­en rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion. The items were seized.

In the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion, be­tween 8:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Mon­day 2 March 2026, of­fi­cers of the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion­al Task Force (Area North) con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Mo­ri­ah Po­lice Sta­tion Dis­trict.

At 9:10 p.m., of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion and went to a bushy area off the road­way at Bam­boo Hill, Les Coteaux. A search led to the dis­cov­ery of a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing a knap­sack. In­side the knap­sack was one Tau­rus firearm and two mag­a­zines. One mag­a­zine was loaded with nine rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion and the oth­er with ten rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

The items were seized and processed by the Crim­i­nal Records Of­fice for analy­sis.
