A businessman said to be in his late 60s was shot dead outside his home in Santa Rosa Heights, Arima on Monday evening.
Residents identified the victim as Zack Pooran, a popular stationery store owner.
Residents of the usually quiet community said they heard a series of gunshots shortly after 6 pm. One witness reported hearing about six shots followed by two more moments later.
Preliminary information indicates that Pooran had just driven into his yard along Pomegranate Avenue and entered through his gate when a gunman followed and opened fire on him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police investigations are ongoing.
