Four arrested in Northern Division operation

Four peo­ple were ar­rest­ed dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion on Wednes­day.

The ex­er­cise took place be­tween 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and in­volved of­fi­cers at­tached to the Ari­ma Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, Ari­ma Charge Room and the Ari­ma In­tel­li­gence/Ops Unit. Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion North Task Force al­so par­tic­i­pat­ed.

Po­lice said the op­er­a­tion tar­get­ed lo­ca­tions in La Hor­quet­ta, Ari­ma and Dins­ley Vil­lage, Tacarigua. Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers went to ad­dress­es in the Uni­ty Ville dis­trict, Ari­ma, where four male sus­pects were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to house break­ing and lar­ce­ny of­fences with­in the Ari­ma Dis­trict.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by se­nior di­vi­sion­al of­fi­cers and co­or­di­nat­ed by su­per­vi­so­ry per­son­nel of the Ari­ma Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment.

Po­lice con­firmed that the four sus­pects re­main in cus­tody as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue. Charges are ex­pect­ed to be laid pend­ing le­gal ad­vice.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice stat­ed that the ar­rests form part of on­go­ing ef­forts to ad­dress re­ports of house break­ing and lar­ce­ny in com­mu­ni­ties across the di­vi­sion.

The Po­lice Ser­vice said it will con­tin­ue in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cis­es in tar­get­ed ar­eas. Of­fi­cers are ex­pect­ed to con­duct fur­ther op­er­a­tions as in­ves­ti­ga­tions progress.

Po­lice ad­vised mem­bers of the pub­lic to re­port sus­pi­cious ac­tiv­i­ty and co­op­er­ate with on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
