West Indies powers past Zimbabwe in Super 8s

The West In­dies stormed to vic­to­ry against Zim­bab­we by 107 runs in its first Su­per 8 match of the on­go­ing Men’s T20 World Cup in Mum­bai.

Bat­ting first, the re­gion­al side post­ed a daunt­ing 254 for six from its 20 overs. Shim­ron Het­my­er top scored with 85 while Rov­man Pow­ell made 59.

Sher­fane Ruther­ford hit an un­beat­en 31 from 13 balls.

Zim­bab­we’s chase was met with a clin­i­cal bowl­ing per­for­mance from the Windies. Gu­dakesh Motie took four for 28 from his four overs to dis­man­tle the Zim­bab­weans. Mean­while Akeal Ho­sein had three wick­ets for 28 runs from his four overs.

Zim­bab­we stum­bled to 147 all out in 17.4 overs.

The re­gion­al side next play South Africa on Thurs­day.
