Police officer hospitalised after incident at Sangre Grande station

A Po­lice Con­sta­ble at­tached to the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion is ward­ed at hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent at the sta­tion on Fri­day, ac­cord­ing to the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice.

Re­ports in­di­cate the of­fi­cer may have fall­en from a height on the east­ern side of the sta­tion com­pound on­to a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle around 4.30 pm on Feb­ru­ary 20.

The of­fi­cer sus­tained head and fa­cial in­juries dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

He was tak­en to the San­gre Grande Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment and lat­er trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, where he re­mains ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

Po­lice said in­quiries in­to the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the in­ci­dent are con­tin­u­ing.

The iden­ti­ty of the of­fi­cer has not been re­leased.
