The CARICOM Eminent Persons Group, made up of former prime ministers Dr Kenny Anthony, Bruce Golding and Perry Christie, attended an Organization of American States consultative meeting on Haiti on February 2, 2026, in Washington, DC.
Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign and Community Relations Elizabeth Solomon and CARICOM Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Haiti, Ambassador Colin Granderson, joined representatives from the OAS, CARICOM, the United Nations, the Government of Haiti, the United States and Canada. Discussions covered security, governance and elections, including the rollout of the Gang Suppression Force ahead of the August 2026 elections, the February 7 expiration of the Transitional Presidential Council’s mandate and transition arrangements, and preparations for free and fair polls.
The group also held side meetings with Bahamian and Jamaican foreign affairs officials on February 1, and on February 2 met UN political, peace operations and Haiti mission officials, including representatives linked to the Gang Suppression Force.
