Two people were arrested and narcotics and ammunition were seized during police exercises conducted on Wednesday.
In the Southern Division, officers of the Criminal Investigations Department Operations Unit carried out an exercise around 10.45 pm and went to the Claxton Bay district. During a search of a house, officers found more than one kilogramme of cannabis on the premises. A woman was arrested in connection with the find.
In the North Eastern Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 10.30 am and 1.45 pm and went to the San Juan district. Officers found cannabis and cocaine hidden in boxes in the vicinity of a bar. The operation was led by W/Snr Supt Guy-Alleyne, Supt Birch, ASP Callender and Insp Ramsingh. Investigations are continuing into the discovery.
In the Central Division, officers from the Central Operations Unit, the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department and Task Force Area North conducted an operation between 5 am and 8 am. Officers went to a home in Cunupia linked to a male suspect and conducted a search. The search resulted in the discovery of 66 rounds of 7.62 ammunition and four 12-gauge cartridges. A 37-year-old man who was on the premises at the time was arrested in connection with the items.
In the Port of Spain Division, officers conducted an exercise between 10 am and 3 pm. During the exercise, officers found cannabis in the Laventille district. Police also recovered a blue Hyundai Elantra motor vehicle which had been reported stolen from the Central Division.
