Argument over dog leads to cutlass attack

An ar­gu­ment over a dog spilling cof­fee beans left one man in hos­pi­tal nurs­ing chop wounds while an­oth­er was ar­rest­ed.

Po­lice said around 3:45 pm on Jan­u­ary 26, a 39-year-old res­i­dent of Broth­er’s Road was at his home when he had an ar­gu­ment with an­oth­er oc­cu­pant over the man’s dog spilling his cof­fee beans.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port, the res­i­dent ap­proached the oc­cu­pant down­stairs in the house with a piece of wood and threat­ened him as he swung the wood at him. The oc­cu­pant grabbed a cut­lass and chopped the oth­er man on his hand, and they be­gan fight­ing. Rel­a­tives in­ter­vened and called the po­lice.

The res­i­dent was tak­en to a health cen­tre and lat­er trans­ferred to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal to un­der­go surgery. The cut­lass-wield­ing man was ar­rest­ed and en­quiries are con­tin­u­ing.
