UAE delegation meets public administration minister

A del­e­ga­tion from the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates paid a cour­tesy vis­it to the Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion and Ar­ti­fi­cial In­tel­li­gence dur­ing an of­fi­cial vis­it to this coun­try.

Vice Pres­i­dent of Dalil Tech­nolo­gies Salam Q. Ali Has­san met with Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion and Ar­ti­fi­cial In­tel­li­gence Do­minic Smith on Sat­ur­day at the min­istry’s head of­fice at the In­ter­na­tion­al Wa­ter­front Cen­tre, Port of Spain. The meet­ing fo­cused on for­eign di­rect in­vest­ment and diplo­mat­ic en­gage­ment be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go and the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates.

The meet­ing formed part of an of­fi­cial vis­it led by Min­is­ter of State at the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs of the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates Noura Al Kaabi. The del­e­ga­tion par­tic­i­pat­ed in meet­ings with sev­er­al gov­ern­ment min­is­ters dur­ing the vis­it.

Meet­ings were al­so held with Min­is­ter of Works and In­fra­struc­ture Jear­lean John, Min­is­ter of Land and Le­gal Af­fairs and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries Sad­dam Ho­sein, Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties and Min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter Bar­ry Padarath, and Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs Sean Sobers.

The del­e­ga­tion al­so vis­it­ed In­vaders Bay, the Point Lisas In­dus­tri­al Port De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion, the Cou­va Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal and Fort King George.

The re­lease not­ed that in No­vem­ber 2025, Min­is­ter Do­minic Smith and Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary Cory Bel­fon trav­elled to the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates, where a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing was signed. The agree­ment sup­ports Trinidad and To­ba­go’s pol­i­cy frame­work for dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion, fo­cused on dig­i­tal ser­vices, gov­ern­ment sys­tems and na­tion­al dig­i­tal de­vel­op­ment.

Min­is­ter Do­minic Smith said the en­gage­ment re­flect­ed Trinidad and To­ba­go’s in­ter­est in in­ter­na­tion­al part­ner­ships re­lat­ed to tech­nol­o­gy, in­vest­ment and pub­lic ad­min­is­tra­tion.
