Minister John meets UAE delegation on investment talks

The Gov­ern­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go on Jan­u­ary 24, 2026, met with a se­nior del­e­ga­tion from the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates, led by Her Ex­cel­len­cy Noura bint Mo­hammed Al Kaabi, Min­is­ter of State at the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs, as part of ef­forts to strength­en eco­nom­ic co­op­er­a­tion.

The meet­ing was host­ed by Min­is­ter of Works and In­fra­struc­ture Jear­lean John and in­clud­ed Min­is­ter of Land and Le­gal Af­fairs and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries, Sad­dam Ho­sein.

The en­gage­ment fol­lowed re­cent min­is­te­r­i­al out­reach to the Mid­dle East, where dis­cus­sions fo­cused on iden­ti­fy­ing new ar­eas for col­lab­o­ra­tion and in­vest­ment linked to na­tion­al de­vel­op­ment pri­or­i­ties.

Min­is­ter John used the meet­ing to out­line key ini­tia­tives un­der the Gov­ern­ment’s Re­vi­tal­i­sa­tion Blue­print, a mul­ti-sec­tor in­fra­struc­ture pro­gramme that in­cludes more than 129 projects aimed at sup­port­ing eco­nom­ic di­ver­si­fi­ca­tion, im­prov­ing na­tion­al re­silience, and cre­at­ing em­ploy­ment.

She al­so said Trinidad and To­ba­go re­mains open for busi­ness, point­ing to the coun­try’s strate­gic lo­ca­tion, com­pet­i­tive ad­van­tages, and on­go­ing ef­forts to im­prove the ease of do­ing busi­ness as fac­tors that sup­port in­ter­na­tion­al in­vest­ment.

Al Kaabi wel­comed the dis­cus­sions and ex­pressed in­ter­est in strength­en­ing en­gage­ment, cit­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for part­ner­ships and fu­ture in­vest­ment.

Dur­ing the vis­it, Al Kaabi and mem­bers of her del­e­ga­tion toured sev­er­al sites, in­clud­ing the In­vaders Bay De­vel­op­ment Project, the Port of Point Lisas, op­er­at­ed by PLIPDE­CO, and the Cou­va Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal, to as­sess ar­eas with de­vel­op­ment po­ten­tial.

The Gov­ern­ment said con­tin­ued in­ter­na­tion­al en­gage­ment and strate­gic part­ner­ships re­main cen­tral to ef­forts to sup­port long-term de­vel­op­ment and ex­pand eco­nom­ic op­por­tu­ni­ties.
