Mechanic shot dead in South Oropouche

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mur­der of a 44-year-old me­chan­ic who was shot and killed in South Oropouche last evening.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as Dy­nesh Sookoo of Del­hi Road, Fyz­abad.

Re­ports in­di­cate that Sookoo was at his busi­ness place along Mon De­sir Road with his fi­ancée when, at 5 pm, he walked out­side to meet a cus­tomer. Mo­ments lat­er, his fi­ancée heard sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions and found him ly­ing on the ground bleed­ing from gun­shot wounds.

When po­lice ar­rived, they met an in­spec­tor who was per­form­ing CPR on Sookoo. He was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion III are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
