Police seized cannabis and arrested two people during an anti-crime operation in Area North of the Central Division on Friday.
The exercise took place between 1.00 pm and 6.00 pm and was coordinated by senior officers of the Central Division. Officers from the Central Division Task Force Area North took part, with support from the K9 Unit and the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment.
According to police, the operation followed information received by investigators. Searches were conducted at the residences of persons classified as priority offenders under Regulation 390 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025. Officers also carried out searches in locations identified by police as areas where illegal narcotics are sold.
During the operation, two individuals were arrested at Suresh Street, Chaguanas. Police said one person was arrested for possession of cocaine. The second person was arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Both arrests were made during searches carried out by officers assigned to the operation.
In a separate exercise, officers searched a bushy area off Tobago Road Extension, Enterprise. During that search, police found four rectangular packages wrapped in brown tape. The packages contained cannabis with a combined weight of three kilograms.
The cannabis was seized and taken into police custody. The arrested individuals were taken to a police station in the Central Division to assist with investigations.
Police said enquiries are continuing in relation to the seizures and arrests. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Central Division to address offences involving illegal drugs.
