Police seized more than $8.6 million worth of cannabis during an anti-crime operation in the Port of Spain Division on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
Officers attached to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) went to a residence at 11th Street, Beetham Gardens, where they conducted a search under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025. The search took place in the presence of the occupants.
During the search of a bedroom, officers found 111 multi-coloured rectangular packages containing cannabis. The drugs weighed a combined 78.52 kilogrammes and have an estimated street value of $8,617,334.44.
Police arrested two men, ages 45 and 32 years, along with a woman, in connection with the find. Officers took them to the SIU main office.
