Police uncover cannabis operation in Point Fortin

Po­lice ar­rest­ed a 49-year-old Point Fortin man af­ter un­cov­er­ing a cannabis cul­ti­va­tion op­er­a­tion at his home on Tues­day.

Dur­ing an an­ti-crime op­er­a­tion un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions for firearms and Am­mu­ni­tion, they searched the man's home at Jah Roots Av­enue, War­den Road where they al­leged­ly found a room on the ground floor the of­fi­cers found what they de­scribed as a grow lab con­sist­ing of 20 cannabis plants with LED Grow lights, fans and bot­tles of fer­til­iz­ers.

In the yard, po­lice ob­served a con­crete plat­form, sup­port­ed with iron posts and cov­ered with plas­tic, al­leged­ly hous­ing a large quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na plants, along with fer­til­iz­er bot­tles, shov­els, spray cans, and ad­di­tion­al LED grow lights.

The ex­er­cise, con­duct­ed be­tween 6 pm and 10 pm, was spear­head­ed by Snr Supt Thomp­son, in­clud­ed PC Mo­hans­ingh and oth­er of­fi­cers from the Point Fortin CID and South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.
