Newsday has begun legal proceedings to wind up its operations, signalling the closure of the newspaper after 32 years.
According to a story published in Newsday, a public notice to be published in all daily newspapers on January 10 states that a petition to wind up Daily News Ltd, publishers of Newsday, was filed on December 31, 2025.
The first hearing is set for January 19, 2026.
Managing director Grant Taylor said in a statement on January 9:
“A perfect storm of challenges has led to where we are now: closure.”
