Businessman robbed of $50,000 in Curepe

A busi­ness­man was robbed of $50,000 in cash on Christ­mas night in Curepe, af­ter a man broke his car win­dow and grabbed two bags from the front seat.

The 35-year-old busi­ness­man, from Pouchet Street in San Fer­nan­do, had parked his black Hon­da CRV in the Per­sad’s park­ing lot around 10:20 pm on De­cem­ber 25.

Video footage showed the sus­pect break­ing the front pas­sen­ger win­dow and tak­ing two black bags con­tain­ing $20,000 and $30,000, along with a car­bon tank val­ued at $5,000.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent near­by on Box­ing Day, a Massy Stores em­ploy­ee in St Au­gus­tine re­port­ed a break-in around 3:45 am.

Sur­veil­lance footage showed a sus­pect cut­ting a hole in the front glass pan­el. Two cas­es of al­co­holic bev­er­ages, val­ued at $500, were tak­en.
